Need help! Anyone have any info on the Remington 7 MM BR (benchrest) round? Ballistic information, where to find ammo, what it was designed for, etc. Thanks.

it was introduced as a source of reloadable brass for the .22ppc and 6mmppc cartridges. the most accurate brenchrest rounds at that time, broke/held all the records.

based on the .308 win case but taking a small rifle primer for more uniform ignition. original brench rest cases were based on the .220 russian (IIRC)...short squaty case, small rifle primer

my contact was through a metallic shiluete handgun shooter

Mark, The 7mm Rem BR is pretty much a pistol cartridge standardized by Remington from the 308x1.5 wildcat designs.
Around 1980 Remington offered a XP-100 pistol and basic brass with the small primer pockets. In the mid 80's Remington began selling loaded ammo and ready to go cases.
If you are wanting info on using this round in a rifle let me know. I am one of the few screwballs that fools around with it in an AR.
Best Regards

Thanks for the info guys. Does anyone know where you can find factory ammo? My friend bought a scoped custom rifle at an auction in this caliber. He thought it was 7x57mm. Now he's trying to find out as much as possible about this caliber. Sounds like he either reloads, sends it out for custom work to switch to a different caliber or sells the rifle. Anymore info on this caliber would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
