I picked up an Argentine Mauser. 7.65x54. Now I am a long time reloader but not of older military rounds such as these. In my manuals everything is listed as "7.65 Arge" "7.65x54" and some as "7.65x53" Bullet diameter is .311"

Is it safe to use all of these? The .310?

Can someone shed some light on this issue?

Okay posting is wacked up again.... Slug your barrel. Argentines go from .310-.313. Most I've seen are .311 though.

Good pick up on the Argentine, I have an 1891 and I love it. It's been sporterized at some point in it's life but it's an awesome deer rifle.

You can buy PRVI Partizan ammo for $18/box; that's less than $1/round and it's already made. Get your brass that way. Midway & Graf & Son has it.

so .310-.313.... go it thanks!

I picked this up a few days ago. Its kind of a project gun. Needs some minor cleaning up, but I bought it to basically disassemble and reassemble :)

So I am able to shoot/ reload 7.65x54 & 7.65x53?

7.65X53mm is what we call 7.65 Argentine or 7.65 Belgian Mauser. I have never heard anyone knowledgeable refer to it as 7.65X54. Never. Ever. Not in the last 40-ish years I have been involved with guns.

Yes you will be able to shoot and reload. The 54 vs. 53 is a manufacturer's choice, they are the same round. Follow your specs, these hold poor results for people who hot load.

You picked yourself up a Engineer's carbine. Nice little guns. Yours was made at the tail end of 1899.
