7.65 argentine

Hello everyone, I wanted to know if anyone knew of a place to get non corrosive ammo in 7.65 argentine. My dad has an old Mauser argentine 1891 model that I would like to shoot a few rounds through. A friend of mine found a place that sells the stuff, but you have to buy 1000 rounds per order. I don't think I'll be shooting 1000 rounds through this gun. I just wanted to get a couple boxes of bullets to see what I could do with it.

In our area, St. Louis, Missouri, there are local reloaders who offer 7.65 Argentine reloaded at resonable prices at local gunshows, twenty to the box.. That's were I would look first. See if there is someone around who sells reloaded ammo as a small business at your local gunshows. If you don't see any displayed, ask him or her if they know of someone who offers this.
You might even ask in local gun shops if they know of a reloader who offers this. They might know some who does, but don't want to carry any in stock.

My father has one, and some years ago I bought him a few boxes of Norma in this caliber. Unless I am mistaken Norma still loads for this caliber. A large gunshop may have some on the shelf or should be able to order some.

Norma still loads this cartridge, but it is frightfuylly expensive, usually just a little over $40 per box of twenty after you have paid the local tax. I buy any I find that gets down into the $20's, remembering that the brass itself is very desirable.
They offer new expensive cases too, at about $30 per box of 20. The advantage here is that it is head stamped properly for 7.65x54.
There is also some Argentine surplus ammo (non-corrosive???) around, but this stuff is Berden primed and not reloadable.
Most of the reloaded stuff around is made out of 30/06 brass, which is easy too do. However, it will have 30/06 head stamps on the brass and if anyone ever tries to shoot this stuff in a real 30/06, there is a good chance that 30/06 will be ruined and even a danger of injury to the shooter, which is why I like properly head stamped brass.
There are thousands of guys and gals that would like a resonably priced, properly stamped, reloadable and non-corrosive source of this ammo. The general lack of this is the biggest problem faced faced by the owners of those fine old Argentine Mausers.
I always thought maybe the Czechs ought to try offering this stuff, but they do not.
