Tell me about your experiences with the 7.62x54R and/or the 1944 carbine. I see a lot of the carbines for sale but haven't heard from anyone who owns one.

It kicks like a mule, but is surprisingly accurate. If you can find a recoil pad for it, you may be able to take more than 50 rounds without being sore for a week.

I have a Polish and a Romanian M44 and think they are a great weapon for the money . I was never bothered by the recoil from them but they are pretty loud and throw a fireball . Both of mine are very accurate . Good luck , Mike...

It has one other problem besides recoil. Many peoplle find it difficult or imposible tp work the bolt while keeping the butt against their shoulder.

It has a short bolt handle, common to all Mosin-Nagant rifles and so is harder to use than a Mauser or Lee-Enfield. Recoil is definitely a factor with me, and it is noisy to boot. All that being said, the 44 carbine, like all M-N rifles, is rugged, reliable, and accurate.

I like 'em!

It took me a while to learn how to hold it so the kick didn't leave my arm dragging after 5 shots. Now I can shoot about 100 or so before I tire.

But, I want a few more... I've seen some really nice tricked out ones!

:D
