personally, It doesn't do much for me. I am an M1A fan, don't get me wrong. I hope to have one someday...but to me...That is just a crossbreed of a garand and an M14...I say you have a springer M1A, go get a garand and have the best of both worlds.
The scope mount-ability/solution is what I really find appealing on this rifle. That it would make the receiver more rigid is another plus. And a drop free magazine rather than wrestling and tilting it into place seems to be another upgrade.
It just seems like they are bringing the old battle rifle into the 21st century.
I would love to see an affordable M1A-M14 style rifle in 30-06. Maybe not affordable to me but it would be cool to know there was one out there I could save up for. I have been a huge fan of 30-06 for most of my adult life and one of the calibers I reload.
I don't think there is any real gain here. In a gas gun what will a '06 do a 308 can't or won't? I like the M-1's and grew up with a M-14. I believe what we have here is what Mr. Garand should hve designed in the first place, but it just is not right.
