Just curious about this round, and of what quality a Tokarov is. Also, is it hard to find reloading materials for it? Or is it worth it? I'll be getting it for what I consider a good price, and for various reasons I think I should maybe just get it......Comments? I've done some research on it, and it seems to be a hot little round.

I have a Chinese Tokarov, generally regarded as a step down from the Russian models, and it's a very decent quality gun IMO. It's a great gun to shoot, and you can pick up a CZ-52 to keep your Tok company, shoots the same round. :)

TOKAREV AND MAUSER are the SAME I THINK. Minor dimensional difference, I believe but if I remember correctly they can be used interchangeably. And Mauser is widely available.

The rounds that are out there for the CZ-52 are NOT for any of the Mauser or Tokarev pistols. The CZ-52 uses a roller locked breech (similar, I have been told, to the H&K G3) that allows it to handle the hot sub-gun ammo that is out there. The CZ-52 is well made, but I'd hold one before I bought one ... they aren't for everyone. I like mine ... it is just a little different in shape and feel than my other pistols. Hornady makes some 95 grain XTP projectiles and S&B's brass is reloadable and Star-line makes brass for it. I think that you can use the Tokarev/Mauser brass with no problems. AA#9 works well ... 1750 fps well with a non-max load

Hope this helps,
Saands

reloading 7.62 x 25

Using it for range use with the CZ 52 been using cast lee 90 gr RN and enjoy instead lyman 311356 M-1 carbine spire point 113 gr gas check bullet (no gc) with 6 gr Alliant Power Pistol with both slugs...a friend uses 8 gr. Unique w/ fmj 90 gr .32 cal pistol bullets

Effectively simulates loudenboomer mit spitzensparken of surplus ammo at less cost...pretty accurate

If you want to try 7.62 Tok, try getting a CZ-52. IIRC they are cheaper and more widely available than Toks, and are definately more robust.
