6PPC VS. 6.5x.284 - Same bolt face???

That stinks, I found a guy that's got a 6PPC benchrest rifle for a good price. I was hoping that I could put a 6.5 x .284 barrel on it and be ready at 1,000 yards, BUT, it looks like that's a no go......... : - (
 
Yeah, that old 6mm PPC is probably near worn out. I bet those groups have opened to almost .090". Practically worthless! Offer to trade him your old pocket knife for it.;)

Actually, depending on the action, you may be able to open up the bolt face, but you could never lengthen the action.
 
So a good rifle smith could get the 6PPC bolt face to accept the 6.5 x .284???
The next problem is action/bolt length, is a '' typical '' 6PPC action long enough to accept the 6.5 x .284????
Is that possible???
