6MM Remington Ackley Bullet

I'm going to begin load development for my 6MM Remington Ackley improved. The barrel is a Bartlein, 1:8 Twist, 28" built on a Trued and flushed mauser action.

I am thinking about either the 108 gr Hornady ELD-M, or the 107 match king. I will be trying initially to use H4831 SC. I think from what I have researched that a 1:8 Twist is too slow for the 115 gr Bergers or the new 110 gr match king. This is going to be my new mid-range F-class rifle so 600 yards is the intended range.

I have no experience with Ackley cartridges or 6mm (243) target bullets, but seems like the ELD-M is a winner. I currently use the 225 ELD-M in my F-Open long range 300wm and am happy with the results.

Oh, and as an aside....What brass do y'all Ackley shooters like to use to form your brass from?

I've not had an Ackley, but if you are forming brass that is previously fired, I would anneal it first. For new brass, these days I go for Lapua or Norma to minimize case prep if I have the cash on hand.

Use the heaviest bullet you can for 600 yards. Just don't use a match grade bullet for case forming.
I'd try the 115 grain Berger's anyway.
Read this. There's case forming instructions.

Midway currently has Federal ammo on Clearance at $16.97 per 20. And there's a rebate available. Gotta buy before 31 Dec. 2017 though.
One box of 50 pcs of Hornady brass is on sale at $32.29.

I'd use virgin brass.
Then I'd look at what brass is available.
In your case,6mm Rem,in mine,.257 Roberts can be challenging to find.
I don't even know if Rem is selling it anymore,I bought a couple of 500 lots of Rem 257 Roberts ...long ago.It has served me very well.

But I don't shoot F-class.

Of course,Lapua is best brass. You could work with 7x57.(or 257 R) Maybe you can get Norma.. 7x57 might require neck turning.
But you might be looking at WW,Rem,or Hornady. And it might come down to "In stock".

I think any virgin brass will AI form just fine.
