going to load some 87 gr. vmax. I could use some load suggestions in terms of powder type, charge, and seating suggestions. I do not like to load out touching the lands.
dont remember what i bought ,but comparing midsouth to midway, midway had cheaper shipping ,so cheaper to buy from midway even though the price was higher
Another option of course is buying loaded ammo. The Hornady brass at 80 to 90 cents a piece is almost certainly going to mean your loaded rounds will go over a dollar each.
PPU 6mm Rem ammo is available for 20 to 21 dollars a box. Who knows your rifle might like it and my experience so far has been that their brass is decent.
I'll vouch for ppu brass as well, it's very consistent, not quite as long lived as Winchester, a bit softer, kind of like federal but a bit roomier. This in my .300 win mag anyways. With that bullet weight I would expect good things from the general 4350 burn rate of powders, also your 760 should be great, the new imr 4451, rl 19 should also do well, it's in that neighbourhood.
7X57 mauser is the 6mm Remingtons parent brass.
Commented: Just in-case owners of the 6MM suffer the indignity of watching their "littl' deer get'er" slipping into full obsolescence.
Here is an ancient reloading label showing all components I used for 6mm reloading:
CALIBRE 6mm
DATE 13-Aug LOADED xxx PRIMER CCI
POWDER 4831 CHARGE 48 TYPE IMR
BULLET HORN WEIGHT 75 TYPE HP
VELOCITY 3310 ENERGY 1824 TKO 8
CUP 52,000 TRIM TO 2.222 OAL 2.74
. .
Dads varmint rig with a 29" barrel likes a couple tenths of a grain under max per hodgdon data of imr 4064, under a 87 v max, it runs these at 3425 fps,
5 shot groups 1/2" at 100 yds.
Work the load up, and I think you can find something there.
