I saw a winchester 69A, that I will probably buy, with an iron sight I have never encountered. It's a peep that fits into the regular rear sight barrel groove and uses a wheel to adjust for elevation with globe and blade up front. Does anyone know if this was a winchester option?

It's one of the issue sights, if it looks like this:
There were two versions of this No.96 sight, the pointed front "A" & the blunted front "B".
The pointed front was standard for the barrel-mounted position, like on the single-shot Model 68.
The blunt front was used on the rear receiver bridge of Model 69's (not 69A's), so the sight would clear the ejection port.
Whether it was original issue for the rifle you're considering is another matter entirely.

Okee Pokee, I purchased the rifle this morning and one more ...no, I have two more questions. The front sight consists of a globe and post, the rear of the globe unscrews I'm guessing to facilitate different posts. Is this a Winchester factory sight? Also, how close is the action to the Winchester 52, or 75? Is it related in anyway, and is there any trigger adjustment? Thank you. I guess that was three or more questions.
The Model 69 and the Model 75 have identical actions, but various years had differing bolt & trigger styles.
The Model 52 is an entirely different design/breed of cat.
Some Model 69 triggers are slightly adjustable, via a screw in the rear of the trigger housing, accessible after removing the barreled action from the stock.
I have no clue, as to the origins of your globe/target front sight, which takes interchangeable reticles/inserts of various configs, like crosshairs/posts/circles/etc/etc.
If you GOOGLE the "Lyman 17 globe sight", you should see something similar to what your rifle carries, and the card of inserts that accompanies a new sight.
BTW - Winchester ofter installed Lyman sights as a factory option.
