687 SP II vs. 686 Onyx 3 1/2"

Not quite the simple which is a better gun argument. They both swing nicely, they both are designed for similar tasks. However, the price is $500 different. Which is not an issue, but I've ALWAYS been a functionality person, not a "nice artwork" type.

Assuming I have this gun until I die, which do you think would ultimately be worth more? I've seen so many more SPII's than Onyx's and would venture a guess that a good/very good condition Onyx would eventually have a rarity factor over the SPII.

Any merit to this? Or should I just get an SPII and be done with it?

Thanks,

Ed

SPII and be done with it----the 686 may be scarce where you live---but that's not the case anywhere else.

The higher dollar gun will always have more value down the road(as long as you take care of it)---we're also not talking about collector pieces here either.
