Whats a 686-2 with a 3inch barrel, wooden factory grips, nice shape and pretty tight worth in the real world? Saw one today, shop wanted $399.00.I'm curious.
I gave $375 more mine a few years ago. It has a 4" barrell and had less than 100 rounds through it. A couple of shooting buds picked up nice tight police trade ins for around 300 a few years back. I have noticed the price has went up on these though. $399 isn't rape and is probably around market value. IMHO the 686 is one of the best revolvers on the market as far as value goes.
If the gun does in fact have a 3" barrel and not the standard 2 1/2" then it would go for a premium. I've seen them on Gunsamerica go for well over $400, believe they were a special run for the customs service.
686-2 is 1987(2 being hammer parts upgrade). There were several standard 3" runs as well as the Custom Service CCS-1 3".
Like everyone else said, 3" commands a premium.
