Is there a difference? I was at a store today and there was a gun labled 686+ but on the frame it said 686-6. I get lost w/ all the dashes and extra numbers on these S and W. would this 686-6 be a good one to get. the price was just under 400 dollars. Let me know.

I have a 686-4

its a 6 shot, square frame

I (THINK) the +p means its a 7 shot...not sure.

I got mine used for 350 and its awesome. Its an older one too. The engavings are done much better and It also has the hammer mounted on the hammer.

it's Beautiful and I would not sell it for anything.

The dash number indicates a design revision level. The 686+ is a 7-shot .357 magnum revolver. Any 686 is a great choice; barrel lengths and round count are personal choices.

Just under $400.00 isn't a bad price. I bought a 686-6 2 1/2" 7 shot almost a year ago.I paid around $360.00 for it. It's a very nice reliable gun....Norm.
