686 or GP-100

What would be the best holster drawing for either 686 or Gp-100 to use for drawing and not carrying ? For like shooting at the range for speed , am i saying that correct ? Just for your best time more or less.
Thanks

What barrel length?

BTW, does the range allow such things, and are other shooters willing to be in the area when you are doing this?

Most .357 Mags balance with 4" barrels. Any shorter & it won't be much better than a .38 Special +P. Longer barreled revolvers can easily become unwieldy.

I just bought a GP 100 4" as a back country trout fishing gun.

BTW, IMO the .357 Mag is the most powerful handgun that most shooters can accurately fire.

The best holster I've tried so far is a Kydex. Comes outmfaster thyan a leather holster. I shoot IDPA and some holsters aren't allowed. The fastest would be one of the competition open front holsters.

A 4 inch barrel is what i used all the times. Just going to practice myself as i am by myself most of the time.
I used got a Bianchi yesterday and liked it but dont need the snaps, am i making sense ?

Both guns mentioned will be the same.

I personally prefer the DA trigger stroke of the GP100s (own two; see screen name :D).

An open front holster is probably what you're looking for (assuming I understand your question correctly). To get just a fast draw, a zero cant, lower riding, open front holster is excellent. I don't do IDPA or anything, so I can't speak to whether or not it's legal there. I've done law enforcement competitions, though, and it isn't legal in the ones I've been in. So, I guess it depends on how you're competing as to whether or not such a holster is appropriate.

Is English your first language? You've asked a couple of times whether your meaning is clear. That's why I ask.

Yes Micahweeks, what you are saying is right. I am having trouble typing and speaking right now as i have had a medical problem, its new for me, i apologize for my trouble.
The Bianchi holster i both other day, i enjoyed but to take off the strap in front of it, thats what i am looking for to use. i understand if i have a leather guy to cut the strap off and seem it , does this make sense ?
Thanks, once again.

No worries! I think we're getting what you mean. You're wanting to know if a leather worker can remove the strap on your Bianchi and refinish the leather where it was removed? I'm sure one could, but the price might be just as much or more than a different holster. Do you have a budget number in mind? That could help narrow down some suggestions.

Please stop spreading this lie.

I would argue that "balance" is a rather subjective term; the meaning of which can be interpreted differently by individual shooters and/or the context of the shooting/carrying circumstance. Also, irrespective of barrel length, the .357 Magnum cartridge will deliver more "power" than a .38 Special +p. How much more constitutes being significantly more and whether the added ballistic advantage is worth it to the individual shooter in terms of extra muzzle blast, recoil and cost is a question only he/she can answer.

Anyone of these will do.

I don't have the regular versions of either but I do have a Wiley clapp gp100 blued and a pro series 686 ssr. I'd say my gp is faster in and out of a holster but I can shoot the 686 faster and more accurately though the gp is not far behind. Makes sense though as this particular gp was designed for easier carry and this particular 686 was designed for shooting competitions. Idk how their stock counterparts perform but between my two guns it's a toss up, they're both great guns. Hell do like I did and get both
