65 grain gameking in .223 rem.

Is anyone out there using the 65 grain gameking in the .223 rem. for coyotes? Or for any other hunting? I've been shooting paper out to 400 yards with them and they are outstanding- almost as good as the SMK. I'm wondering about terminal performance...? Thanks.
 
I use 60gr nosler partition in my uncles .223 with good success on goats and pigs.

Coyotes are a little bigger than a fox right?

You wont have a problem with the gamekings.

The last one I shot was 30 lbs.
I figure the gamekings will work good- I was just wondering if anyone hunts with this particular bullet in .223 and what their experience has been. The specs make it out to be one of the best long range dedicated hunting bullets out there for .22 caliber rifles, but thats just on paper...
On a side note: butta9999, can you tell the people in Aus. that make Hodgdon H4895 to ship over, say 5 times as much as they do now? Thanks.
 
Like all Sierra bullets, the 65gr Gameking is an excellent product. In my experience, compared to the usual 55gr HP and ballistic tip varmint loads, that extra 10 grains of lead decreases wind drift noticeably. Expansion is quite a bit less "explosive", however; the Gameking performs more like a controlled-expansion big game bullet, mushrooming nicely but staying more or less intact.
 
i used to use the gamekings quite a bit. I have since changed over to 55 grain vmaxs due to the lead tip on my bullets getting bent and damaged on the feed ramps. the Vmax have plastic tips, and will just about split a fox or small yote in 2. I use them for deer, and hogs, out of a Ar15

they do have 60 grain vmaxs,. IMO- hornady makes a better bullet.
these 55 grainers are one holers out of my ar15 at 100 yards.
if you really want a long range bullet, they have 75 grain Amaxs. My twist wont stablizle them, and they wont fit in a mag either

and if you could do the same for dupont IMR4320/IMR4198 that would be great... Im nearly out and they work really in my .243 and .222:D
 
I've been meaning to try the 60 grain Vmax, but the 65 SGK is just so accurate in this gun (20" 1/9 bolt) at longer ranges. The 75 Hornady HPBT is also very accurate in this gun. I've shot them to 400 yards at paper with great accuracy. I think the Amax will be too long for this twist. To TheManHimself: What have you shot with the 65 SGK?
Butta9999- the powder situation is bad where I live, slowly getting better except for H4895- the powder that I need of course. I have maybe a pound and a half left and I'm starting to freak out... 4198- lots of that.
 
I really love 55 grain or less varmint bullets for coyotes in a .223. That way if you are trying to save the pelts you usually don't get an exit wound. With the 65 grain I think you will get more exit wounds. I don't think that they will be extreme blow outs on the exit however unless you are shooting at extremly close ranges.
