I finally took some pics of my 629 Classic PowerPort. All I need now is a base and ring set, so I can attach my 2x Leupold. Question is, which loads for Whitetail?

Nice pistol-let me know

what setup you use for scope mount etc...
I just bought a 629 Classic DX 6.5 bbl and haven't shot it yet.
Keep us posted as I am partially in the market for a scope mount.

IronMike,
I just bought a Burris base/rings set from another member here. You can't go wrong with either the Burris or Leupold set. The Leupold set actually uses a dual-dovetail base, while the Burris uses the standard Redfield style, with the exception of having a recoil post behind the forward ring. I don't think you would have any problem with either. What kind of scope will you use? If you are looking for a 2x Leupold, I actually know someone who is selling their's.

Oh yeah, Ala Dan. UGA 27 UT 17
(I have my suspicions on about UT's defense this year)

Is the sight not at the front of the barrel b/c it is ported?

Just looks odd at that angle to me.

I have a Millett base on my 629 Classic - it is also dual dovetail. Used the Burris mount on my former 29 Classic. Of the 2 mounts I definitely like the Millett best. The 2X Leupold is my choice also - an excellent revolver scope. Will post pics once I get a new computer!

Jason, Nice looking gun. As far as white-tail loads, depends on your school of thought. If expansion is what your looking for 180 gr Hornady XTPs have worked well for me, but I have kinda steared towards the big hole in big hole out school of thought. A 240 gr SWC or bigger will do just fine. The biggest plus to that is the fact that if you hand load you can use the same load in practice as you do in the field without breaking the bank. I have a friend that does not handload and he use's the Winchester white label stuff. The main thing is to know your practical range, never try to take a shot at a distance that you cant put all your shots into the size of a paper plate.

I use the Lyman 429421 at 250 with 23 grains of H-110 or DC 44-262-K with 20 grains of 2400.
