I have found that needle nose pliers and a simple bottle opener is very easy, and all I need to take off the empty shells....just stick the pliers up from the bottom to hold the moon clip, and use the bottle opener to pry them off at the top, using the side of the pliers to help. I'm sure this will work on all of them.

Here is my home made mooner it does 8 shot .357 clips on one side and 6 or 5 shot .45 acp on the other. The 2 caliber mooner in my pics cost under $4.00 to make from hardware store parts. It consists of a piece of scrap 2x4, 2 lag bolts, 2 brass bolt sleeves, 2 screws, a piece of straight angle reinforcing bar 8" long and a piece of nylon bearing tube.

Use a 625 JM for USPSA matches. Tried a couple of different methods for loading and unloading the moon clips and the very best method I found was the BMT (Better Mouse Trap) tool (model # N45-6). It is pricey ($80), but it makes loading and unloading moon clips a complete breeze. Take a look at: bmtequipped.com

I've found that if I use the type of cartridge a particular gun design was intended to use I don't need any special tools!

Have you owned a revolver which shoots semi-auto rounds? Doing moon clips without tools would be a deal breaker. The exception is my Charter Arms Pitbull, which has a clever ejector design which supports the entire cartridge and ejects without moon clips. Those familiar with the mechanism should note that the design has been very recently updated.

For demooning the pictured tool is what I use but made mine out of a little thicker tubing.

For loading unless you are doing 100 clips at a go I load 5 round in each easy then load the 6th with a dowel through the middle of the clip holding against at wood cutting board
