Pleased to say that I am going to have one of these on the way with some full moon clips and a kydex holster. It's the 3 inch model and I am pretty excited. Anyone care to share their experiance with this gun?

Well, I can't speak for an '89 version but I do have the 625JM and it is one wonderfully sweet shooter. Low recoil, tremendously strong, superb accuracy and a great trigger.

Truly it is one of the best firearms I have ever shot. Enjoy!

I bought one (5") around 89 and used it for IPSC and bowling pins and have probably put around 10,000 rounds through it. I must have got one that was made on Monday because I had a lot of trouble with it to start with. It seems that some of the chambers were bored short which caused binding on my full moon clips. I tried a lot of things to cure the problem before I actually nailed the problem down to the cylinder. After two trips to the factory they got it fixed and since then its all been good.

I chamfered the chambers to speed reloading, put on an Ed Brown cylinder speed release and hogue grips. I'm thinking of changeing the grips to the ones designed by Jerry Miculek. The Ed Brown release is only useful if you do speed reloads by keeping the gun in your strong hand instead of changing hands during the reload. Not sure which is faster and I have practiced it both ways. Jerry Miculek changes hands.....and he is damn fast.

I've had one for a few years. Makes for a rather fun lil .45acp. It's accurate and no real recoil to notice. I've had several people ask me to sell it, so don't let people shoot it and keep the secret to yourself.

Cool! Thanks for the replys. I'm really looking forward to getting it and putting a few hundred rounds through it.Do you guys use any products to aid in the loading of the full moon clips or do you just make your thumb adjust? :) This will be my first time to use a firearm with moon clips.

alphamaniv . . .

I have a 625-9, .45 Colt Mountain Gun -- it is a terrific revolver. I assume yours will be .45 ACP, not .45 Colt? Regardless, I strongly suggest you use RIMZ moonclips; made of polymers, they never distort or rust, they provide the fastest reloads and the best carry I have ever experience, and -- best of all -- no tools are required to insert or remove cartridge cases. You can find several equally glowing RIMZ endorsements by searching the TFL archives.

Congratulations of your new N Frame!

Yes sir, its 45 ACP. Thanks for the info on the RIMZ. I would have been leery of plastics but i'll give them a shot. Shot. That cracks me up, i'm very punny tonight. (must be getting late.):D Thanks for the congrats. I'm really excited

I have a 4" mountain gun and the 3" model of '89. Both very fun shooters. RIMZ are great, the metal clips are a chore without the loading/unloading tools.

enjoy

Two of my favorite firearms are Smith .45 acp revolvers (and I have a bunch of nice guns)...5" 625 (stainless) and 3" 325 (scandium). My guess is that yours will be equally appreciated. And get the RIMZ moon clips. The guys are steering you right on that product.

I have a mid 70's 25

4 inch and it is my "Sunday go to meeting gun" (not that I take a gun to church"
But the darn thing is such a good looking gun, its like a best suit.
One of the finest out of the box triggers I have ever had.

What no pics!

Just had to show a pic of mine dirty and all

To me the 625 is the best handgun out there. The balance with the underlug is great. Accurate is not the word, it is like shooting a laser! A slicked up action and you are really going to rock and roll! It is cheap to shoot! Most of all it just hangs out there absorbing the recoil!
