Through some lucky trading, I now own another M28.

This one is a 6 inch, 4 screw in fantastic condition. The cylinder line is the only blemish. Ser # is S2121xx.

Can anybody date it for me?

I love these guns!

You know when you have an addiction ? When you see guys post pictures like that and you honestly feel thankful that someone who appreciates what he has, bought it. It breaks my heart when I see some moron abusing something, or taking something for granted that I consider sacred.

Very nice. Enjoy it in good health.

Thanks for the kind words, 444.

It's not an addiction as long as you can rationalize it

I had to have a "partner" for my 4 incher :)

Roger seems to have had a "nice gun" magnet implanted.

More like a serious run of good luck, and being in the right place at the right time.

Damn, and I just put the goats to bed...

Ok, let me get one out here... Start the sacred flame... Sacrifice the goat... Feed it to the flame...

And Mithras' minion says...

1961.

Sure RogerC, I'd love to take her out for a date. I'll be around to pick her up at 6. I promise she will be home by 11. :D

Are the 6 inch Highway Patrolman the ones who check under your car for malfunctioning brakes,or leaky mufflers or does the highway patrol specificaly assign them to drug task forces to look behind seats or body panels for drugs. one of the could walk right under my car and not even have to remove his stetson.....

Nice piece
Brian

I was drooling and reaching for my wallet while fondleing a S&W mod 27-2 in 357 yesterday, but then I realized the beautiful lady I call honey took my money and paid bills, now if I could only find out who this Bills is?

I'll be glad to show it a good time.

I'll even have it back before 11:00.

But since you didn't say which DAY to have it back by 11:00, looks like we're going to have a lot of fun. :)

ah date it ?? hell my girl would be jealous over a peice like that but if i took it out on a date it would come back dirty .. as a matter of fact my girl is jealous I drool over something like that and not her ..... I better take my pills I hear voices talking to me now ..

In my best scoobie voice which can't seem to be duplicated well enough when typed,

HUUUUURRRR?

You said 4 screw, am I missing something here? I have a 5 screw 38/44 and know where the screw was dropped when they went from 5 screws to 4 screws. 4 screws should be the number of screws holding the sideplate on which would be a lot of the -2 N frames, in the pictures looking at the side plate I only see what looks like a 3 screw sideplate.

Yet I do see a pinned barrel. 3 screw with a pinned barrel similar to what the 4 screw -2s had?

Transition gun between the -2 and the -3 variations perhaps?

If you look at your 5 screw from the side, which screw can you NOT see? .....the one in the front of the trigger guard!

That's why you don't see it in that picture.

Did you find this at the Puyallup show?

I saw LOTS of neat stuff there today, to include the 4" CS-1 that followed me home. Did you see the TWO 4" pre-29s there for $450 each?!? When it rains, it pours!

RogerC, actually in a lot of pictures I can pick out the 5 screw guns by seeing the recess in front of the trigger guard. Counting the recess in front of the trigger guard, depending on the angle ofcourse.

4 screw descriptions to me have always classified the guns as having 4 screws in the sideplate, not 3 in the sideplate and one infront of the triggerguard. Until your picture I was unaware of any N-frames having only 3 screws in the sideplate as well as having the triggerguard screw to make a total of 4, almost all the N-frames that I've seen that had a triggerguard screw also had 4 in the sideplate as well making 5screws all have 4screw sideplates.

Trigger guard screws were dropped long before the 4th sideplate screw was dropped, from what was my understanding of S&W history.

So with the gun in the picture the trigger guard screw was something I had thought was long since history because the sideplate is a 3 screw sideplate.

To me it's a wierd gun, always thought the screw in front of the trigger guard screw left the guns long before the 4th screw in the sideplate. Maybe somebody can shed some light on this?

But the pinned barrel thing, lost me head there for a minute and forgot when the pinned barrel was dropped and thought that they were all dropped at the same time as when the 4th screw in the sideplate was dropped.
