anyone have any experience and load data on a good hunting bullet for 6.8spc. I have always loaded for accuracy and punching paper with mine, but i am considering trying it this coming deer season. Just looking for some advice.

There is endless info on this including pictures at the 68forums.com. Fine cartridge & there are many good deer bullets available for the "Baby .270"

Use a hunting bullet with your target load and see what it provides. Accuracy is just as important when hunting as it is on paper.

I recommend looking at the 100gr & 110gr Nosler Accubonds. Everyone seems to have high praise for their game performance in the 68. Nosler has plenty of load data for them on its website

A2200 is my preferred powder with a backup of H335. I punch holes with a 115gr Sierra and have 110gr V-MAX as a hunting round. I got my load data off of the 68forums - All of my questions about 6.8SPC have already been asked and answered there. I haven't touched my 223 since I finished my 6.8 last year.

My 6.8 experience is limited but I'm 100% satisfied with Nosler 90 grain solid base bonded white box factory loads. They do all you could ask for from the limited case capacity.

Speers' 90 gr TNT is another good bullet for varmints. For bigger game, my favorites are Nosler's 110 gr Accubond, Hornady 120 gr SST, Barnes 110 TSX and Barnes 95 gr TTSX. The Barnes 85 gr TTSX was popular early on. If you can find them, pulled Speer 90 gr Gold Dots are proven killers too. Thats the same bullet used in Federal's 90 gr 6.8 Fusion hunting ammo and in Federals 6.8 XM ammo. Unfortunately, Speer doesn't sell the Gold Dot bullet as a reloading component. Accurate 2200 is my go to powder for 6.8 along with CCI 41 primers.

My ARP barreled 6.8 SPCII really likes the 100gr Accubond pushed by a max charge of H-322. My 20" barrel pushes them plenty fast and 5 shot groups are routinely 3/4" to 1" at 100 yards.

Nosler 110 and 100gr Accubond and 90gr BSB are all bonded bullets with excellent weight retention, although 90gr BSB doesn't expand as well and has reduced range. I have a feeling it was originally intended for the 270 Win.
Speer 90gr TNT and Hornady 120gr SST both have explosive expansion and excellent accuracy.
Hornady 100gr GMX and Barnes 85gr TSX and 95gr TTSX are monolithic bullets that work great.

For 85-90gr, H4198 and Re7 are the powders to use. For 95-120, AA2200 will give the best velocity, H322 has excellent accuracy, both Re10 and H335 work, but my results haven't been as good. 1200-R can produce good results, but avoid it in hot weather, it's temp sensitive.

For some reason I sold my 6.8 upper, but took my second or third largest buck with 110 gr. Accubonds IIRC. They were SSA +P factory loads probably running 2650 FPS muzzle.
The buck was hit pretty good with the first one, second one dropped him. 50 yd pass thru on a doe was clean exit but she ran a little ways and piled up as to be expected.
