6.55mm Swedish ammo recommendation

Last year I stocked up on Prvi Partizan 6.55mm Swedish 139gr. FMJ when I found some at a bargain price. Not happy with it at all--mediocre accuracy by 6.55 standards, and even worse I have found it to be terribly dirty. Too bad I have so much left!

Can anyone recommend some decent 6.55mm Swede target ammo (FMJ or otherwise) at a less-than-premium price that's better than the Prvi?

Thanks!

I have had decent results with the Prvi 139 gr Soft Point ammo. It is a little dirty, but cheap and probably effective. I have found the brass to be excellent for reloading. If you can find some Federal Fusion, that might be what you are looking for.

To get the most out of the Swede, you need to reload. Get an inexpensive single stage Lee press, and make your own.

Thanks all. I will try a box of the three brands recommended above and see if I like it better. One thing I will say about the Prvi, is that it does appear to be excellent brass. I currently live in a condo in the city that can't really accommodate a reloading station, but when the fiance and I buy a house, learning to reload is on my to-do list.

To get the most out of the Swede

over here people most of the time don't even bother handloading the 6,5x55 because it is cheap, there is still surplus stuff floating around.

NORMAS fmj (jaktmatch) basically training ammo can be had for cheap so there is no need to handload the training ammo atleast

The good thing is that Privi brass is excellent. Handload it.
Yhe 6.5 x 55 is picky. What is accurate in one my not hit a barn in another.

Oddly, I've had pretty good luck with the Prvi. It is dirty, but it's accurate out of my 96...(at least as accurate as I am)

S+B has also given good results.
PPU 140gr SP ammo seems to be accurate enough, but sometime the soft points like to hang up on the feed ramp while loading.

FWIW, you may want to try the Prvi match 6.5x55. Generally costs about a dollar more per box. I've tried the match Prvi 308 and 6.5x55 with decent results in rifles that are scoped and shoot well for accuracy.

I second Pilot's recommendation

To rare in this country to find decent stuff for cheap. Seriously consider reloading.

my swede likes PRVI bullets, it generally shoots inch or better with handloads and such. what I do for cheap as heck 6.5 ammo? I bought a large amount of swedish wood-projectile training rounds, demilled them, and load them up as one time handloads. I load them with PRVI projectiles and IMR powder and average 25 cents a round total, and since they are berdan primed I don't have to bother collecting brass.

Husqvarna, Norma does sell in the USA. Top notch ammo. As far as I am concerned, it does not get any better than Norma. Problem is price. Norma is very pricey. The only Norma I have see that is affordable is some black boxed match ammo. I believe it is actually loaded in the USA.
