6.5 Swed.

Recently decided I wanted to try reloading for my Howa 6.5 X 55 bolt gun. I ordered some bullets from Graf and Sons and when they arrived I noticed it said
6.5 mm (.268) I thought that the 6.5mm was .264 . Did I order the wrong bullets?
Your expertise would be appreciated.

I am far from a expert but the .268 bullet diameter is for the 6.5 Carcano which was a Italian WWII rifle. Incidentally it was also the rifle used by Lee Harvey Oswald. Do a bit of searching then use your own judgement as far as loading them. I would eat the shipping and just send them back and get some Sierra 120's or 140 SMK's

What did you buy PP 139 grainers ?

The .268 could be a misprint but not likely. Like most other .264/6.5 calibers, the 6.5 Swede should be .264 also. Measure a bullet with your caliper to determine what the diameter actually is. What bullet specifically did you order?

You can return or check the Sweede board (or run a google search)

Some diameters for some calibers are so close to the diameter that you can shoot them in a gun.

Ergo, some contend you can shoot happily .311 in a 1917.

Guns have some variance as well, no idea how the Howa is.

Maybe best to return but there are some options and some actually work better with a larger than sped diameter in them.

Just the opposite happened to me. I ordered 0.311" bullets and they all were 0.309". Shotgun patterns at 100 yds.

I got rid of them and never bought another bullet from that manufacturer. That was in 1976.

PPU FMJ Bt 139 grains are .268" and are the wrong diameter. Made for the 6.5 x 52 Carcano.

PPU makes both .264" and .268" in 139 FMJ, I have used the .264 before and they work great in my Swede Mauser.

Bu yeah, .268 are for the Carcano, and won't work in your 6.5X55.

I called Graf and they were very helpful. They had 129 gr in .264 for the 6.5 and we just switched them . They even sent me a return label.
No complaints on my part.
