5906 Trigger Q?

This past weekend my son and I did a bit of shooting. He bought a new SD9VE along with over 250 rounds of various makes of 9mm ammo.
It had been awhile since I took my 5906 out to shoot and noticed something going on with the trigger. As I begin to squeeze the trigger I feel what seems like a slight break, gritty click, ??????, right before I fire it. It feels like a spring is not set, or something similar to that. It only does this when I really take my time to squeeze the trigger very easy and slowly.
Other than that, it's just its usual built as bad as a tank 3rd Gen S&W!
If I am having trigger issues, will S&W honor the lifetime warranty on it?

Hold the hammer all the way back while feeling the trigger pull. If the issue is felt it's in the trigger linkage. Otherwise most likely in the sear/hammer engagement. Perhaps some fouling of some kind.

bof,

Sounds like a loose or broken trigger free-play spring. It's difficult to describe the spring but if loose it can be re-bent or if broken it and its rivet can be replaced.

Take a look at Google for "Smith Wesson Trigger Play Spring" or "Smith Wesson Trigger Free Play spring" and it will take you to some sites showing how to fix or replace it. Also try www.smith-wessonforum.com for a good resource.
