i've always been a Remington guy, and didn't find this site, until after i ordered my 590 Mariner. a lot of the posts had me wondering if i goofed. picked it up a couple days ago, and i like it, alot. my LEO friends like it too.
it'll be some time, till i can actually shoot it. 2 weeks since rotator cuff surgery. a nice 4 in. incision across the front of my right shoulder, and a 1 lb limit on my right arm.
i have spent hours reading posts here, and will continue. i've learned alot. trying to educate myself on AR15, my next addition.

Thaks Webbee. kinda like the Knoxx Spec Ops stock with the power pack. thaks also, for the hookup with ar15.com. wow, now i'm thinking about building one.

can anyone tell me,,,, is the bead sight on my 590 removable ? it's base is hex shaped, like you could put a wrench on it, and just unscrew it. then replace it with, whatever ?

Yes, it unscrews. The thread has probably been locked with a thread locking compound. This can be broken with heat and then the bead unscrewed. A lot of people use a heat gun to break the bond. I would NOT use a flame tourch as it will ruin the finish. The thread on Mossbergs is 5/40 according to the bead chart found here:

You want to use thread locker on whatever you replace the bead with. Good luck with your mod/build!

Another point I should include, as I don't know your degree of mechanical skill. The bead screw length can vary between manufactures. It is important that the screw doesn't extend into the barrel, and that it is flush with the inside. You can file it carefully or use the dremel. You must not scratch or cut the barrel in any way. So, you install and remove the bead, as you cut the screw to fit. Look at the factory installed bead to see what I am talking about in referance to flush fit. After the bead is fitted you would add the Lock-tite, letting it set a day or two, so it hardens.
If you already know all this, sorry for the repete. I am including this info for anyone reading this post at a later time, who may not have a complete understanding of bead replacement.

You bought a great gun. Most people on here will tell you it really comes down to personal preference with remington and mossberg pump-guns, neither manufacturer is well known because their stuff is crap.

Welcome to the boards.
