just saw these on midway, hear they are inaccurate, but would love to buy a box just to have one bullet connect with a groundhog. anyone know where one could buy a box?

I shot a few 30-06 Accelerator rounds into some steel blocks one time. Very impressive; made a deep crater you could stick your finger in. Regular 150g & 180g ammo didn't do much. These also made large holes clean through a thick swinging steel target. The accuracy was good, but point of impact was different.

I wouldn't want to cleanup the mess after you shoot a woodchuck with one; did this with a plastic-tip 150g and it was too messy for my taste. Don't know who has them in stock.

I still have some just for the fun of plinking with them. I never really tested them to see how they would group. It's basically just a 22 caliber bullet surrounded by a plastic sabot so it will fit in the neck of a 30-06 hull. I can tell you this. What they will do to a milk jug filled with water will make you smile. Absolute disintegration. LOL!

O0o0o0or......

You could just buy a .223?

Unless you only have a 30-06 I dont see the point

It might just be the joy of doing something different and experimenting with a new idea. It sounds like a lot of fun to me.

Throat erosion must be minimal with those sabots too eh?

You'd think so.... but they're so expensive in factory loads and require extra equipment to hand load and are so notoriously inaccurate at long range that I doubt anyone has ever fired enough of them to find out.:(

Yeah...I hear you can buy the sabots alone though for like 88 bucks per 1,000...then you just get some .223 ammo, and some .30-06 brass, LR primers, powder and have at it....yes?

I used to carry them with me when I was hunting pronghorns in case I got into a PD town. Had to remember POI, since it was several inches different than my 150gr hunting load. When I actually hit a PD, it went POOF!

Here all along I thought that these were for use in a 7.62x25 pistol ... the ORIGINAL FiveseveN :D ... although they are also of interest in a 30 carbine ...

The only real issue with them in semi-autos is that I haven't been able to load them hot enough to get the actions to cycle
