.52 Smith Carbine ammo

Anyone find or make better cases for the .52 Smith than the plastic by DGW or the Brass that hold only 30 gr of powder? All my "space age plastic" cases split after one shot and the brass is to light a load for hunting. I was thinking about cutting down some shot shells that fit and removing the rims. or going to a peace of PVC tubing and paper cartridges. Any ideas?

Smith cases

I got a Pietta Smith Carbine in February and have been using the plastic cases from DGW. They have worked fine -- I have 40 of them and have put about 5 or 6 rounds through each of them. No cracks, no blemishes and they clean up easily.

I have been using FFG and FFFG Goex in them -- about 28 to 30 grains.

Stick with that load and the plastic cases should hold up pretty well...
 
Thanks I'll try them they seem different then the ones I got back in the 80's. Those cracked as soon as I shot them and some as soon as I but the bullet in them. I did find some old brass rod and made some that hold about 45 grains of FFFg. Will be testing them on the range Tuesday.
