The combination TTUUG meeting (The Totally Unorganized Umbrella Group) is meeting tonite in Phoenix to discuss entertaining ways to commit random acts of freedom.

The Bob Stewart Legal Defense Fund Raffle will immediately follow. The rifle will be on hand for gawking along with 50 rounds of .50BMG ball ammo kindly donated by the good folks (and twice indicted and acquitted) Thunderbird Cartridge.

The winner will be announced (unless he wishes to be anonymous) here at TFL tomorrow.

Rick: I'm going to hate myself for saying this, if it comes to mean something, but if I win that raffle, sell more tickets and raffle the gun off again, to raise more money. OK?

No way Brett. :) If you win, our FFL is sending it to YOU, dude. You can give it away once it gets there, or do your own raffle, but only after you run a few rounds through it. As I said, Thunderbird Cartridge of Lavene, Arizona donated 50 rounds of ammo (not surplus) and I expect the winner to suffer through a few concussions. We may give a few round away at the meeting as door prizes, but at the very least, 40 rounds will be sent to the winner.

Note: They RICOed the owner of T-bird Cartridge's car anyway. He bid on it and was the high bidder. They refused to give it to him. Instead they had to agents do "secret bids." They both tied at the low-bid limit of $550. They flipped a coin for it. Long story, short.

BTW, last nite I put all the tickets in a big aluminum pot and practiced a few drawings just to see what I would get.

The plan is to draw six tickets. Then those six tickets will be numbered 1 thru 6. A roll of the die will determine the winner.

I didn't have any dice handy but I did notice something very peculiar. I drew a group of six stubs and checked the names. Then I put them back in the pot, mixed them up and drew again. I did this six times. Care to guess who had at least one stub as part of that six-stub sample four out of six times?

Care to guess, Brett, hmmm? How many tickets did you buy, anyway?

Rick

Uh-oh.

Well, somebuddy named Brett bought a whole lot of tickets ($200). I guess I should have looked closer.

Shortly after the tickets were nearly sold out I guy contacted me saying that he wanted $1,000 worth of tickets. He bought $120 instead (I held 10 tickets out for tonight's meeting).

The Phx TUG meeting was a major success...the room was packed. We even had 25 women there.

Lots of discussion of real activism. If we can keep the interest up, by keeping the plans of action to be cutting edge and, well, entertaining and inspiring. We'll see.

Now for the drawing for the .50BMG....

Six tickets were drawn as finalists.

1 #218--Yuma, Arizona
2 #1366-Phoenix, Arizona
3 #66---Phoenix, Arizona
4 #239--Tucson, Arizona
5 #1345-Bellvue, Washington
6 #112--Naples, Florida

A roll of the die was used to name the winner...

In front of 125 of my closest, and far-flung friends (one coming from Grass Roots of North Carolina), I rolled the single die along the carpeted floor. I jokingly predicted that I would roll a "3" but as it turned out, the die showed "2". Which means that the holder of ticket number 1366 will take home the rifle and 50 rounds of match ammunition donated by Thunderbird Cartridge.

The winner of the Maadi-Griffin Model 89 .50 BMG rifle is a guy who bought only one ticket. I met him at a Phoenix Libertarian meeting (the first I had ever attended as I am a registered GOPer). He is a big dude, 6'2" and 250 pounds so he will sit well behind the intense muzzle blast of the rifle. He is an activist with no equal.

Bob Stewart was in awe of the support that everyone has shown him. We raised nearly $3,000 for him and he was quite touched. He even donated a portion of the money ($400) to buy a quality P.A. system for our meetings.

He is one nice granddad.

Thank your for your generosity.

I began to wonder why the winner wasn't responding to my e-mail or phone calls.

He is on vacation sunning himself on some California beach. He hasn't got a clue what is waiting for him back home.

Ya know, maybe we should "test" his rifle for him, just to be safe. ;)
