Thinking of ordering a FA Mdl83 in 500we, looking for opinions on that cal.I dont here much about it. Thanks in adance for your opinions.

I'm assuming you aleady know this .....and have discussed it either with Freedom Arms ( you can contact them by email ) ...or with your local dealer that will order the gun for you...??

I guess it depends on what you want to do with the caliber...on whether it makes any sense or not ??

If I were to go to that caliber -- I'd probably want a 7.5" barrel ..and personally I like the octagon barrel in their guns ( its about a $475 upcharge for it) but I like it.
-------------
I have a model 83 in .357 mag that I like very much(mine is a 4 3/4" octagon barrel ) ...

and I see a lot of model 83's made in .454 Casull, .475 Linbaugh and once in awhile in .500 Wy Express....

comes down to what you want / what you want to shoot. I can see why some guys may want to hunt with it / but I think there are better options too / but there is no wrong or right answer...its your money...

I had a second convertible .500 WE cylinder fitted to my M555 .50AE a few years ago and am perfectly happy with the results.

I just like Freedom Arms, I have a 454, that I bought new in the mid 80;s, I want a 500, don't really like the X frame s&w much.Alot of guys talk alot about BFR's in 500jrh,but I keep leaning toward the FA.Definitly want the octogon barl, and i think that i will order it with a 50ae cyl, just in case the 500we becomes non existant.I don't reload, I don;t really need a 500, just want one!

What's your opinion on the 500we staying around, only one company loads ammo for it and i think only one company produces brass. It's not like you can whip up brass,it's kind of unique.Don't want to have a ''What the hell did i buy this for'' moment in a few years. Although when i bought my 454 in 86, alot of guys said they wouldn't sell either.

Thanks, Mark
