 Yeah that's right!!! I completed the 500 round break in on my Taurus PT145 today. Came home, field stripped, cleaned, and oiled it, then discovered, while trying to get the slide onto the frame that the extractor was bent!!! It shot great with no FTF's as usual. I was shooting 230gr S&B hardball. It came apart fine. It just wouldn't go together!!! The gun is at my friends, due to go to the gunsmith Monday!!!

It's back to the G30 for me, at least until I get this new one fixed!!!

yikes..sorry to hear that man,

But then someone has to work all the bugs out of the pistols before I get mine.:D

Good Shooting

Look at the bright side. Even with a bent extractor, it still functioned great for you. That means it wouldn't have faild in a defense situation.

WHY THE HELL are you shooting a Taurus when the Walthers are on the shelf wearing their make up and good dresses as you promised them a night on the town?

Hube,
.45ACP man, .45ACP!!!! My Walthers, all three of them, are in 9mm. During this time of crisis, I feel that a traditional American cartridge should be used to defend my family from the Infidels!!!!
In times of war, things change. The .45ACP's were just called up first!!! :)

denfoote: I just heard that the trigger on my brothers PT-145 broke. Thats all I know though. No other details.

Make mine all steel please.

I'm sure glad my Hi-Point hasn't ever done that!

Neither has my G30, or my Taurus PT92AFS for that matter!!!

You know this brings up the issue of trusting reviews in gun rags. Mostly what sold me on this pistol was the review in American Rifleman. The other was the guy at the range that had one. Now that I think of it, I had mused on whether this guy was a Taurus rep. He was shooting some pretty light loads that day. Specially prepared hand loads perhaps!!!! I will see what my gunsmith says. In fact, I plan to call him today or tomorrow!!

denfoote, for shame, how could you?? put the taurus down, and use your walthers. there is a reason that you enjoy them so much. you're going to be hardpressed to throw those .45ACPs at your target with out a gun to feed them to.

<in all reality, good luck getting that fixed.>

Hi, Denfoote,

OK, I give up. How did the extractor bend and how could it bend in such a way as to prevent the slide from going on the frame? I don't own that model and have been trying to visualize this.

In fairness many feel the highpoint 9mm is a decent hangun. In fact I think sales are usually brisk for this manufacturer. I personally rate the highpoint as my second favorite pistol. All of the other handguns in the world are tied for first. I would'nt buy a highpoint unless wallmart had run out of toilet paper and I needed something cheap too wipe my ass.

I sat at my gunshop for an hour trying to decide between a Glock 19 or a PT145. I decided on the tried and true track history of the G19 instead of the new flash in the pan Taurus.

I like Taurus guns, but I've learned from buying a car on it's first model year, that you should wait and see. Hopefully these few breakages are flukes since I think that Taurus makes a nice gun.

It was a close race the .45 for $350 or the G19 with preban hi cap, 2 ten rounders and NIB for $540. (Glocks are getting expensive!)

I love the .45 cartridege, but went with 17 rounds of 9mm instead in a tested package.

You have a G30 and you are not carrying that instead of the Taurus? Come on man you can't beat a Glock 30 for defense.

Size!!! A .45ACP the size of a Glock 26!!! The holsters even interchange!! I am carrying the G30!!! I was looking at a .45ACP that would fit into the pocket!!! Try that with a G30.

Anyway my gun went to the gunsmith, and he said that the extractor "flexes"!!!! You just have to use a little force sometimes to get it together. Anyway that is what my friend said. I plan to speak to him this weekend.
