The problem is the search utility on the main LoC page is limited to 50 hits max.
There are actually 221 pieces of legislation in Congress related to firearms. Admittedly, about 5% of those are appropriation or budget legislation for LEO & military, but that still leaves 200+ bills, etc. for consideration that will affect us (Joe Citizen) directly.

hmmmm... interesting, i was wondering when they would actually try to pass some legislation like #41 and #42.
Let's see, a military sniper weapon... could that be a bolt operated, or semiauto/auto loading, scoped firearm, that is designed to fire either a large caliber or high velocity round for long distances?.... Can you say "hunting rifle"?

41 . Military Sniper Weapon Regulation Act of 1999 (Introduced in the House)[H.R.2127.IH]

Firearms Rights, Responsibilities, and Remedies Act of 1999 (Introduced in the House)

HR 1233 IH

106th CONGRESS

1st Session

H.R. 1233

To regulate interstate commerce by providing a Federal cause of action against firearms manufacturers, dealers, and importers for the harm resulting from gun violence.

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

March 23, 1999

Mrs. LOWEY (for herself and Mrs. MCCARTHY of New York) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary

your right, dZ, #41 and 42 refer to a proposed classification of any rifle that fires a 50 caliber round as a NFA weapon.

"50 CALIBER SNIPER WEAPON- The term `50 caliber sniper weapon' means a rifle capable of firing a center-fire cartridge in 50 caliber, .50 BMG caliber, any other variant of 50 caliber, or any metric equivalent of such calibers.'"

I had not check the references to the bill before posting, and figured the bill refered to high powered rifles. my mistake.... i'm just expecting them to start trying to limit high powered rifles anytime now, as just another step toward chipping away at firearms. humble apologies for any mistaken impressions.

Should it pass, there would suddenly be interest in larger or smaller calibers that are not exactly .50, and antis would say "Look! They're evading the spirit of the law, so we must ban, um, everything .30 and up!"
Grrrr....
