.50 BMG Rifle Comparison

I figure this has to have been covered before, but I've yet to find anything on it. I'm looking for some type of comparison chart that details the differences between the .50 BMG rifles available to the civilian market. So far, I really only know of two manufacturers - ArmaLite and Barrett. I have links to the Fifty Cal. Shooters Assoc and Sniper Country.com.

Can anyone help me here?

Thanks for all those links! I went through all of them last night and put together a little matrix comparing all of the features I think I may be interested in. My plan is to put my 8/31 bonus towards a .50 of some sort. I haven't decided its 'primary' purpose ;) just yet, but overall reliability, ease of operation and cleaning, portability, and of course accuracy are the top considerations.

You can click here to see my 50 BMG Comparison Chart.

If anyone can fill in any blanks I would be most appreciative.

Thats a nice little chart you got there. Good reference to have. There are a few other manufacturers out there as well. A nice list can be found here:

A friend of mine just got a Barrett Model 99 a few weeks ago. It came with the Barrett scope rings and a nice hard case (pelican or starlight....starlight i think). It seems to be well made especially the scope rings. Im waiting for him to get a scope so I can shoot the darn thing . Im dieing to shoot one of these cazy things :D

Good Luck

I like the chart. Glad to see someone other than myself take the time to build something like that. I have one similar for ammo prices.

Anyway, one item I did not see listed in the chart is customer service. I have been reviewing the .50 board for a while. (Looking to purchase in the future) and found customer service is very very important with a .50 caliber and Barrett appears to lead the pack. They even tend to post responses to the .50 boards on a daily basis. Plus they have a long lasting reputation.

When I decide it will probably be betten the AR-50 or the M-99, but leaning more toward the barrett (M-99) due to their customer service.

Updated...

I've updated a couple things on my chart and added a direct link from my website. Anyone else have any input?

I kind of forgot about the scope factor... Looks like I'll need to look into a nice Leupold long range. Sheesh, I'm gonna have to start another matrix to decide on a scope now! ;)

Just Curious...

Are there any besides the Barret 82 semiauto that can be fired by a lefty? Seems to me that all these bullpup bolt guns, if fired by me left handed, would leave me in the emergency room with a bolt handle embedded in my shoulder...
