$5 or $200 tax stamp?

I’m potentially interested in getting a 14” barrel shotgun. (I understand this will be an NFA firearm and if I get it I will do so legally.) My question is what kind of NFA is the Mossberg 590A1 COMPACT? This comes from the factory with a 14” barrel and a pistol grip. I have seen some short barrel shotguns listed as AOWs rewiring only the $5 tax stamp and have seen others requiring the full $200 tax stamp. I’m unsure what makes one shotgun fall into one category and another fall into the other. My guess is pistolgrip vs. full stock, but I can’t find anything to confirm that. Anyway does anyone know which category this shotgun falls into?

If it leaves the factory without a shoulder stock attached, it is an AOW. The defining factor is the stock. If at any time it had a shoulder stock attached, it is a SBR, even if the stock is later removed.
