5 inch GP100

Recently saw a GP 100 with a 5 inch barrel on GB. Seller said it was a special run. Any one know any thing about these guns?

I understand that the 5 inch GP100's were a Davidson's exclusive. As far as rarity goes, I guess that they can always have Ruger make more.

I also was told the same thing about the 5" guns, I would like to find one to add to the collection as well, I think it was a (Davidson's Exclusive) model. They look like the best of both worlds being a 5".

Who are Davidsons if I might ask? If you want one there are a couple for sale on Gun Broker.

Not rare but not common !!

More than likely as Ruger regularly has what they call Distributors-Exclusives. Personally don't consider them rare, just not that common. Currently not showing a GP-100 in 5" but Davidson's might have some on hand. ... ;)

Be Safe !!!

@JLK: You may want to go to "galleryofguns.com" and learn more about that ruger.

A 5 inch barreled revolver is sort of the goldilocks of barrel lengths. Not too short and not too long. Just right. 5 inches was the favorite length of the venerated Skeeter Skelton.

That is a good way to put it. It's just the right length. I have one on the way , won't have a chance.to shoot it until this weekend. Can't wait.

I picked one up the other day. I was looking at a 5" S&W 686 that was a Talo exclusive. I noticed the Ruger and it was marked 6". I told the clerk it looked like a 5" and he took it out and measured the barrel. It was the 5" and went home with me! Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet.

Have not seen any in blue , I bought mine when Davidson had the first run they had them out at the shot show in vegas a few years ago so there not as rare as you might think .
Just seen one on the PAFOA form for $500 or best offer .
The 5 inch has really nice balance comparing to both my 4" GP and 4" 686 . Plus its a must have in any wheel gun guys collection .

Picked up a stainless model this time last year, don't see them very often. Shoots great! Handles any kind of loads, but feels like a 4" GP in my hand.

Davidson's is a distributor that you can order guns from directly and have them shipped to your FFL. Any guns you buy from them are covered by their lifetime warranty, which from first hand experience is truly "no BS." They still show the 5" GP100 here although it is currently out of stock. The guns I have ordered from them have always been lower out-the-door than their shown MSRP.

I learned something new today. I have one of the 5" GP100's, I did know it was a Davidson's but not that it was one of their exclusives or that they are hard to find.. my LGS had two of them and I liked it, I have been using mine for deer hunting. I actually wanted a 6" but this one is accurate enough, I put a buck down yesterday with it at 40ish yards without problems.
