5.7x28 rifle

I was wondering if anybody has built or converted a rifle to 5.7x28. i have been contemplating it for a while now. i just think it would be cool to have a kind of reloadable .22 magnum. i was eyeballing a savage model 25 for conversion. any input would be great. thanks, mike.

In spite of the hype, the 5.7x28 smells a lot like the old .22 K-Hornet, but without the rim. It should be in about the same class in a rifle, which means a pretty quiet, low recoil rifle for varmints at short range.

For anything over that, a .222 would do a better job.

Sounds like a fun project. It could turn out to be kind of a rimless 22 Hornet, performance-wise, which may be a good thing if you can get it built. I think it would be cool even though I personally don't see much market interest in a bolt action 5.7X28, but I have been wrong before.

i have many ar's and i can get an upper in 5.7x28 but i think it would be cool to have built one myself. my ar's have 16-20"hbars and a 24" bull barrel. i may just get an ar 5.7 upper to try but that would not be as much fun.
