Greetings one and all from the hills of Central Texas,

I'm inquiring as the the possibilities of building a higher caliber rifle on a AR 15 lower receiver? Does anyone know if you can get any larger than a 5.56 without going to an AR 10 lower????? I'm going to be starting some builds, and am wanting to get the largest caliber I can out of a 5.56 ar 15 lower. Any advice???? All pros and cons would be appreciated..... Thanks all. Chuck

New insight

Ok guys, from what I've been able to discover, the AR 15 platform will accomodate the .204 ruger, the .243 Winchester, the .260 Remington, the 6.5 Creedmoor, the 6.8 Remington SPC, the 7mm-08 Remington and the .338 Federal......... Also listing big bore close quaters dangerous game chamberings such as the .450 Bushmaster, the .458 SOCOM and the .500 Beowulf. This is all out of the "Book of the AR-15"(Guns and Ammo).

Can anyone offer advice as to which might be the most popular hunting gun, and or Sniper gun, or all around desirious "I've got to have one of those" guns. I'm trying to do some builds that will have a strong appeal, and perhaps a good chance for sales in the market place. Just looking for options from the shooting community for help. I'm looking for the potential gamet of coverage from plinking, hunting, to LE weapons, trying to find the best niche in the market. Thanks in advance, all ideas will be appreciated. Chuck

Talk about a double whammy.....
AR prices are starting to drop like a brick as the Obamarama Hysteria is starting to settle down. So, to sell it in the market place don't expect to make a huge profit unless your building it on the cheap with questionable parts. Good luck if you build one in an odd ball caliber.

advice

Hey Cowtowner, thanks for the resource for the mags, sounds like a really good product from an american company, if they were only in Texas, it'd be the cat's meow......It's a shame to learn that I won't be able to retire a rich man with these first four builds, damn, thought that I had just the ticket too.
Oh well, guess I'll just have to be satisfied with building a reputation for having a strong, quality product at a fair price.... Thanks to all, and keep the advice coming! Thanks again, Chuck

Cowtowner, got any ideas on a source for 7.62 uppers, or other parts????

The source for your "new insight" is f.o.s. Try inserting a .243/.308 magazine into a 5.56 mag well!:rolleyes: Do a little more/better research!! :D
