5.45 boltgun thinktank / discussion

Why in the world would somebody want a 5.45x39mm boltgun when theres barrels of brand new .223 boltguns for around $350?

Heck if I know but I think it would be neat! Even though the 7n6 is outlawed I've got over 2k rounds laying around & can't find a AK74 to shoot it. I'm a wood & blue boltgun lover at heart anyways.

Virtually no recoil, still cheap ammo available, flat shooting little bullet good for coyotes & smaller I bet.

If it cold hold less than 2 moa regularly with cheap ammo I think it'd be worth it.

So, if you were going to build one, how would you do it? Donor action? Barrel? Worry about corrosive ammo? Anyone else built one?

Go!

once upon a time Savage made a couple varminters that were chambered in 5.45x39. I heavily considered one back when ammo was 17 cents a round and everywhere(back in 2011 I believe). I ended up not getting one for reasons I don't know but by the time I revisited the idea, savage had discontinued them and the ammo had dried up, never to return again. it's just as well. there have been many guns like that.

7.62x25mm chambered AR15 was another of my cheap plinker ideas back when 7.62x25 ammo was 10 cents a round... that disappeared real quick once people caught on.

I believe the 5.45x39 was fist offered in the usa in a bolt platform ssg 82 maybe. Great cartridge. I have a 74 I wanna find a 5 rder for coyotes.
