I was considering converting my 1991a1 to the .460 Rowland for hunting. Has anybody used this conversion? I know that it is balistically equal to the .44 mag. Just wanted some pros/cons on it.

Pro:

Closest thing to real Magnum power to come from a automatic.

Con:

Increased fatigue on a platform that was not design for such increases in recoil. Equals decreased gun life.

Pro:
Ballistically close to the .44mag
Recoil is not as severe as a .44mag due to the comp.
Impressive stopping power
Can still shoot .45acp through it. HOWEVER you will have decrease accuracy and poor cycling due to the heavy spring.

Con:
Not much of a carry gun due to the size, weight, and comp
Harsh on the frame and slide
Inial costs for conversion kit, reloading dies, brass, etc.
LOUD (this could be either a pro or con depending on your preferences)
