$460 for SIG220 in VGC?

I know I said I wanted a CZ-75, but I just found a used Sig P220 in a local shop for $460 in awfully nice condition. It has only one magazine but wear is minimal and hard to find. There is no holster wear that I can see. I like the .45 caliber and it even fits Melissa's hand, and it seemed to cycle well in the store and the internals look clean and in good condition. Finally, this dealer offers a sort of informal warranty on used guns, in which he pays for repairs if they're necessary.

I've looked around a little on the net and the cheapest I could find the P220 was $450 at KY Imports, which is higher than the dealer after shipping and FFL and for an unknown gun. So is this deal as good as I think it is? I'm about to jump on it. Thanks.

Do it! If the recoil spring guide rod is plastic don't worry. Sig can send you a metallic rod for next to nothing.

Please this sounds like the chance of a lifetime and you deserve it.

I firmly believe the 220 is the most accurate DA .45ACP out of the box.

Good price, not great, but good (a great deal is the 99% condition, Tutone 220 with siglight nite sights and 2 mags that I missed out on couple of weeks ago by about 5 minutes, price was $450). I'd go for it, 220 is a great gun.

They're great guns. I like larger capacity firearms more though. I'd get another magazine too. New ones from Sig should be affordable.

I'm sure you've already done this, but if not, ask the shop owner if you can field strip the pistol. Check out the frame with care, especially the slide rails. How much wear is their to the outside of the barrel? Little wears means it was shot little and alot of wear means it's seen lots of ammo. The fact that it doesn't evidence holster wear means it was likely never carried. If everything checks then $460 isn't a ba price at all.

Little cosmetic things like the factory grips, if they need replacing, can be had for $13 from CDNN. They also sell new factory mags for $25, and sometimes less.

You can find original cases for under $10 on EBay. SIG Arms will send you a manual free of charge.

SIG Arms can also do a rebuild job. This includes replacing all springs and minor internal parts for $40. Should you have any problems SIG Arms stands behind their products, even if you're not the original owner.

So many pistols, so little money.

It sounds like a very good deal, Don.
I got one for my wife a few years ago and she loves it. It i particularly a good choice for yo,u since it fits Melissa's hand and either one of you could use it in an emergency and as the Brits say ".45 caliber bullets come pre-expanded." You would be surprised how formidable a young woman can look with a .45 caliber automatic in her hands.

Buy it you can't go wrong.Spare mags?Buy meggar. They make the sig mags for sig and are about 14$.The 220 is the finest 45 auto ever built.MAn will I get flamed on this but its what I think.

That's it. I'm taking the cash in tomorrow and plunking it down (after I check the slide rails as Tecolote suggested, since I didn't do that, but hey, I'm new at this.) I'm sure they'll strip it for me if I show them the cash. That tune-up from Sig sounds like a good idea, and maybe I can talk Missy into it since I'm coming in so far under what I "could" spend. That was the last shop in the area and I just think I'll be kicking myself next week if I don't pick it up. One could interpret it as a sign, actually, what with finding such a nice gun the day before pay day. ;) Now I just have to put up with the damn waiting period. Then I'm taking dad shooting!
