.45super/+P+ in Alaska

Accompanying a buddy up to Alaska while he hunts. Going into the field with him sans rifle. Wondering if my Hk USP.45c with said ammo loads will suffice if Yogi comes at me. What are your thoughts?

NO!
I LOVE 45 Super, but, it's a cartridge designed for humans, not bears. With solids, it's marginal.

Two big bears pictures around here, both took 11 rounds of 375 H&H...

After having used one on a charging Rottweiler I would have to say no. I would at the least use a .44 magnum with a good hot load. There are lots of better choices than a .45 super for bear.

This is a worst case scenario type deal...fyi for my protection only. Love the outdoors enjoy the hiking/camping aspect and this will be my only firearm on this trip. He's the only one hunting. I realize something more powerful would be optimal. Did I mention that we will be strategically placing picnic baskets around to keep 'em away from us? I'll take my chances since I don't have my .357 any longer.
