.45Super in Glocks/1911s?

I'm hearing a lot of buzz about 1911 and Glock 21 guys using ported/compensated barrels and heavier recoil springs to get a 185 grain bullet moving 1400fps.

I like to hunt so I think I could use that kind of fps to use my Glock 30 to hunt with if I can find a 6" hunting barrel

Can someone here tell me why they shoot that round?

I'm a 45Super shooter, but I prefer the 1300fps 230gr. Check with Ace Custom Guns in Texas for a lot of information on the 45Super. Not a lot more recoil in my Para, but just shy of a 44Magnum. You MUST have a fully supported chamber (like the Para with the ramped barrel) or you can have something VERY BAD happen. There is a conversion for the Glock, as wella s the 1911/Para. I wouldn't bother with a ported barrel. If you can't handle it, you probably can't handle a standard 45ACP. Brass is availible from starline, and Accurate will have load data up on their website shortly using AA#7. Best of luck!!!
