.45acp for large hands.

Ive read many threads about guns for large hands but they are all talking about long fingers and a thicker grip. I have wide hands. To give an idea the palm of my hand sits 1/4 inch or more below the magwell on my Sig p226.
When I change mags I tend to get pinched. I was looking at the hougue extended magwell grips. I think they might work. Also im waiting for the Sig P227 to arrive in Canada, it might fit better.

If those options dont work. Im wondering what some of the better .45acp pistols are with a longer grip. Preferably double stack.

Thanks!

I'm not usually the Glock guy, but for what you are describing the G21 should be just about the correct proportions.

I have 6 1911's now but for a FULL size, double stack, long grip it would be hard to beat. (shoots very soft too)

If course YMMV and there will be a ton of guys along with every other gun imaginable. If you can hold one - or better yet shoot one. Then decide.

Doubt you'll see a Sig P227 here with the extended mag. Likely come with the 10. The double stacking alone might make enough difference though? Ever play with a Para-Ordnance pistol?
Friggin' factory grips are really expensive at $119.95 US.

Good suggestion. 20+ years I bought a Para-Ord (Canada) P-14 alloy frame-up build with no slide markings. I have "normal" width hands but long fingers and I replaced the short trigger with a long one. (I still have the short one if anyone needs one for free.) It was plain-jane blued but shot well. 13 .230 gr rounds in the mag and one in the pipe made it a fairly heavy gun, but it shot differently up to the point that the gun went empty. I sold it and still use a steel frame single-stack 1911 .45 with fairly thick Pachmayr rubber grips for HD/SD.

YMMV.

I had a G21sf and now own a 97b converted to SAO. Both will fit the bill, although I didn't care for the 21's ergo's one bit. 15 rounds of 45 on board was impressive though and it never jammed. I also used lead bullets with great success.

The Glock 21 isn't that long in grip, despite it's high capacity. The FNX 45 or HK 45 are both pretty long in grip. USP 45 is too, but not as long as the HK 45.
