.45ACP expansion

When using a 4.5" barrel will you get enough velocity to achieve expansion with 230gr. loads, or would it be better to use a load in 185gr.?

General concensus and experience is that a .45 caliber bullet is "big enough" already...expansion in the hollow point versions is really a moot point.

But if it's something you just gotta have, the 230gr +P rounds will expand some...if you want dramatic expansion up in the range of .60 caliber (and it's not always a sure thing) go with the 185gr +P.
