Followed up on the Tromix link regarding Nightcrawler's interest in a 50AE carbine. WTF is a 458 SOCOM based on? I can't find a complete description on that site or at Cor-Bon.

I'm not sure if you guys have seen this yet, since I rarely get over on the this board, but Starline is making me 10,000 .458 SOCOM cases for the latest Tromix AR-15
Sledgehammer. It is basically a 50AE case stretched from 1.3" to 1.6", necked to .458" with an '06 size rebated case head. From the AR-15 it launches 300gr bullets at
2100fps and 500's at 1400fps. Energy is nearly 3,000 fpe and it has a Taylor Knock Out factor of 45. For comparison the .223 has a TKO of about 6. You can see pics of

Starline actually over-ran the lot and I ended up with nearly 13,000 cases. I have about 7,000 or so left in stock now.
The .458 SOCOM case can't be made from any other parent case, other than the special cases that Starline made up for us.
