454

I just bought a new Redhawk 454 today. I had to sell a few old friends but it was worth it. It shoots great. I am feeding mine 45 LC loads for now. If you have one what do you think of yours?

I fired one a student brought to the range today. I've been shooting handguns for over 30 years and during that time I've owned a bunch of 44 Magnums. These were mostly Ruger Blackhawks and Super Blackhawks, with two S&W 29s thrown in.
The Ruger Redhawk in 454, firing factory 260g ammo is the first handgun I've ever fired that hurt my hand. Maybe I'm getting old and weak but this is too much gun for me.
Hope you have better luck.

A close friend of mine bought one a while back and He absolutely loves the .454 Super redhawk . It is a very nice cannon. To me this gun has less recoil than my little 4 5/8 Vaquero in 45 colt using the heavy handloads! Thats a great choice in the ruger, Im not really a fan of the Raging bull, call me silly but I just want the strongest hangun wrapped around that case and I do not really trust the Taurus in the .454 .Now if they would just make that in the Super Blackhawk I`d be real happy . If not soon I`ll be adding the 454 super to my ever growing collection.

REast, if I may ask, how much did you pay for it? And does yours have the new Teflon like finish on it that Ruger is using. I am getting ready to get one myself so I was kind of curious. The ones I have seen range from 699-750.

Nice pic REast!

FWIW I've got a Raging Bull and I'm quite happy with it.
Tends to make you real popular at the range. ;)
Have never shot a Redhawk...yet
Happy shooting...
