I was at work Wednesday when I had a revalation. In a world that "beefs up" pistols to shoot bigger calibers than they were original manufactured for (i.e. Bowen Arms work on a Ruger model to fit the 50 AE) I thought why not on a carbine rifle? If I had the money materials, and knowledge, I would most definately customize an M1 Carbine to be chambered for the nicely powerful .454 Casull or even the .50 AE. I think that such a carbine rifle would be interesting to shoot at the least. Anyone agree? If any arms manufacturer reads this, please take it under advisement.
You can get AR15/M16 uppers in .50AE, 440 Cor-Bon Magnum, and others. The only companies I can think of right now are http://www.tromix.com/ and Hesse (50AE Upper?). From what I hear, the Tromix uppers are excellent. If I wasn't saving for a house, I'd be ordering a 440 Cor-Bon and reloading dies.
I just went to the Tromix site for the first time a couple of days ago, based on a link in a post here in TFL. If you haven't seen it before, go there and cruise around. It's pretty amusing. Those guys are certainly not recoil-averse.
