I've got a Ruger double action revolver chambered in 45 Colt/454 Casull. In 45 Colt it works perfectly. In 454, with reloads, it misfires A LOT. This a common problem for these guns?
I've been having a problem with winchester small rifle primers myself in the Taurus. Also, the primer pockets are getting extremeley worn, and they almost press in with just a thumb push. Almost. Maybe they are seating too deeply? Maybe win primers are a little different? This is with win, starline and hornady brass.
I had the same problem with my SRH with Winchester small rifle primers. The problem turned out to be the hammer spring, which was too weak. Contact Ruger for a replacement or buy a factory standard strength spring from Wolff at
My SRH has never had a factory round in it's chambers. I was getting an occasional ( every 30 or 40 rounds) misfire with a reduced hammer spring, but with the factory spring it is 100%.
It's been fired about 700 rounds.
I have only used CCI Small Rifle standard primers.
