450 SMC/.45 Super?

I am planning on getting both a 10mm and a .45 over the next year or so if nothing else grabs my pistol allowance in the meantime. I was just thinking that a gun that shoots .45 super would scratch my big bang itch as well as the 10mm. What modifications would I need to make to a SAR K2 45 to use the "high test" .45 rounds? Also, would it still work with regular .45s?

On most pistol designs, there is no modification that is going to make the gun function at above design pressures and recoil.

There are some tricks you can do with a 1911, and some other guns are built for heavy .45 loads. The SAR K2 isn't in either category.

Stronger springs do not make heavy loads okay. They just move the frame battering around, and do nothing for the pressure issues.


If you put such loads in a SAR you will either destroy the barrel quickly due to the pressure, or the frame more slowly from the recoil.

Buy a USP full size or a 10mm pistol. USP police .45s are pretty inexpensive on the used market.
