.45 jags?

Is there a weird conspiracy against .45 cal jags that fit correctly?

I"ve got a few gun cleaning kits and the brushes and jags are for .44/.45 which really means .44.

I can never get a good fit unless I fold over my patches. Which wastes two to three times as much cloth and my copper brushes don't clean very well since they hardly make contact.

Does this bother anyone else? Is there a maker of proper fitting jags out there for the .45 cal?

Not an expert shopper, but it seems most jags (patches, etc.) are designed for a very small range of calibers to keep the price tolerable.

I just take my old T-shirts and cut them up. That way, patches are free. If I have to make them a bit larger, no biggie.

One T-shirt makes about a year's worth of patches. And my T-shirts are medium. If yours are large, XL, or XXL, so much the better.:)

Tighty Whities to the rescue.

Believe it or not, I use 12 gauge cleaning patches in both my .44s and now both my .45s. Best thing to do is cut up old cotton T-shirts and underwear and thus make your own patches. Eventually you'll arrive at the perfect size for each of your calibers. A recycled bed sheet will keep you in patches for a long time.

I use standard pistol patches for pistols and rifles. I even clean my 12 gauge with 'em. I think they work fine, but admittedly, can be a pain in the ass for .30 cal or lower. I have to really stuff 'em down.
