45 Cowboy vs 44BP

Just thought I'd get some thoughts on this. Aside from issues involved with black powder such as flame and sparks what would be your preference, a 44 round ball over black powder or a 45 cowboy cartridge? Think two-legged threat here.

I know that the soft lead ball is pretty deadly but 250 grns is nothing to sneeze at either

See'n as how Cowboy loads are pretty weak to limit recoil, I'd think 35g in a Remie bp would be as deadly. However, if you want to go top of the line bp, then a Walker w/ 60g fff has about the same capabilities as a .357 magnum.

If by "cowboy cartridge" you mean a .45LC at it capacity, then the cartridge. If you had in mind some pipsqueak reenactment loads, then I'd go with my BP percussion; but, I'd cheat and load conicals, not balls.

750 fps with a 250 gr. conical is nothing to sneeze at. I would have no qualms about using a c&b revolver for defense but it's not for everybody and I wouldn't do it if I had my druthers.

I figure either way the smoke and fire of the Holy Black will give the 2 legged subject a heart attack even if I miss LOL LOL!

I think stlm1 has the right idea - go with a Walker - heck, if you miss with all your shots, you can hit 'em with it! That's one big piece of iron! :D
