45 Colt in T/C Contender 10" Octagonal barrel

Just picked up this barrel for my "original"contender (not G2). The barrel looks a little thin up front. How heavy could you say I can go with the 45 Colt loads? I've seen some listings for Ruger-T/C, but I don't know for sure.

BTW, I'm new to the 45 Colt... I'm also looking for a Redhawk in that caliber. So I was hoping not to worry about segregating loads. But if I must, I must !

I would say just follow recipes in the Lyman manual for Contender loads to be on the safe side.

with that barrel you will find your recoil limit long before you get to max loads. it will not be fun

TC ReLoading Manual

Thompson Center put out a reloading manual, called; The Complete Reloading Manual for Thompson Center Contenders (1993). I do not reload but in referencing my copy it gives data for Hornady, Nosler, Sierrra, Speer, Lyman, RCBS, Hodgdon Powders, IMR Powders, Hercules Powders and Winchester Powders.

Cousin had that same barrel for his (original) Contender. Believe it will also fire .410 shotgun rounds. Borrowed it for a month or so and it as a handful.

Rather than possibly having a communications problem, ,might I suggest you go to EBay and get a more current copy. There are at least three listed there and I have the yellow binder manual. .....
